Risa Gorelick, MD
Dr. Risa Gorelick graduated from Union College in 1985 and from New York Medical College in 1990. She completed a Pediatric Residency at North Shore University Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center in 1993 and joined her father-in-law, Dr. Seymour Gorelick, at Hillcrest Medical Associates in 1993.
She is board certified in pediatrics, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been a Preceptor in Primary Care, teaching medical students, for New York Medical College for the past 18 years. She is on the Executive Board of the Rockland County Medical Society, and is on the Board of the Rockland Jewish Federation. “Dr. Risa” was a nursery school teacher in between college and medical school, and maintains a special interest in educating children and their parents regarding health care and health maintenance.
Lawrence Krawitz, MD
Dr. Lawrence Krawitz has been a Pediatrician with Hillcrest Medical Associates for the past 10 years. A native of Monsey, Dr. Krawitz went from Spring Valley High School to Duke University where he graduated summa cum laude. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and trained in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Dr Krawitz is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He resides in New Jersey with his wife, 2 children and dog.
Seymour Gorelick, MD
Dr. Seymour Gorelick graduated from New York University in 1954 and from The Chicago Medical School in 1958. After completing a one year internship at King’s County Hospital in Brooklyn, he served two years in the U.S. Army as a general medical officer. Upon discharge from the army, he completed one year residency in pediatrics at King’s County Hospital and an additional year in pediatrics at North Shore Hospital.
In 1963 he came to Rockland County to join Dr. Alan Zisman and Dr. Richard Radford at Hillcrest Medical Associates. “Dr. Seymour” is proud to have served four generations of families in Rockland County.

Claire Elphenord, MD
Dr. Claire Elpenord received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. She obtained her medical degree from New York Medical College in 2008 and completed her pediatric residency at Maria Ferari Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center in 2011.
Dr. Elpenord worked at the Rockland County Department of Health in the Child Health Plus/Medicaid division after completing her undergraduate degree. Prior to joining Hillcrest Medical Associates, Dr. Elpenord was an Attending Pediatric Hospitalist at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.Dr. Elpenord is board certified in pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Elyse Teicher, MD
Dr. Elyse Teicher graduated from Queens College in 1978 and from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1982. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Montefiore Hospital in 1985.
Dr. Teicher worked as an attending physician in the pediatric outpatient clinic at Montefiore Hospital until moving to Rockland County and joining Hillcrest Medical Associates in 1987.
Melanie Paige, MD
Dr. Melanie Paige joined our office in September of 2011. She grew up in California and attended undergraduate school at the University of California at Berkeley. She then came to the East coast to attend Weill Cornell Medical College. After graduating, she did her internship and residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Paige then worked for several years in private practice in New Jersey before joining Hillcrest Medical Associates. She is board certified in pediatrics.
Milagros Pena, CPNP
Milagros commenced her undergraduate studies at SUNY Rockland, and she completed her graduate studies, obtaining a Master of Science degree at SUNY Buffalo in 1998. She taught as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Nursing at SUNY Rockland for several years.
Prior to joining Hillcrest Medical Associates in 2011, Milagros worked as a registered nurse in the Children’s Hospital of Montefiore and as a nurse practitioner in the outpatient Pediatric unit there. She is fluent in Spanish, and is happy to have returned to primary care pediatrics in Rockland County and to serve the local community.
