I begin a website design project by learning my client's business, and then build the business's brand online through the use of consistent imagery, color, copy, phrases and logos. I partner with clients each step of the way, providing several mocked-up versions from which to select before proceeding to full website development. Depending on the need, I can either use client-provided content or develop it myelf. I make sure that content contains relevant keyword content that attracts search.
I can either teach clients how to maintain/update the site itself or manage the website for them on an ongoing basis.

By the end of 2013, over 50% of visits to websites were made from mobile devices. This % will only increase in the coming years.
It is essential that web design be mobile-optimized, meaning that the content is appropriately re-sized and rendered to be read by scrolling on smart phones, without the necessary "pinching" with one's fingers to read the content.
Most small business websites are not mobile-optimized, but this feature is offered with all of my websites.

Building a high-performing website is much more than just how it looks. Performance means being found in search engine results when customers search for your product or services. It also means a website where content is easily and intuitively found with a minimum of clicks. The more clicks, the more customer drop-off from your site. Performance also means leveraging other tools, such as Search Engine Marketing (SEM, or paid search) to get your site found quickly and drive additional customers.
Search Engine Optimization
SEO is the process of getting traffic from the "free" or "organic" listings on the search engines. Search engines such as Google or Bing dispay search results, ranked based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users. Your website needs to be found on the web, or else there's no point in building it. As a digital consultant who conducts SEO audits for major corporations for my day job, I know how to build websites that get found.
High SEO rankings are built on factors such as relevant content with appropriate keywords, proper URL structure, efficient navigation, proper tagging, linking, website speed and more. Being found on Google has nothing to do with how the website looks. When I build a website, each of these factors are incorporated. Recomendations are also made for actions that clients can take on their own or with my assistance to increase their presence across the web, and thus improve SEO ranking.


Search Engine Marketing
SEM is the process of gaining traffic by purchasing ads on search engines. It's also called paid search or pay-per-click marketing, because most ads are sold on Google or Bing on a pay-per-click basis. Paid search ads are found along the top or right-hand side of search engine results.
SEM can be an effective way to generate traffic to your website before it becomes fully indexed by the search engines, or to drive additional site traffic.
